Specialist Bravio speaks at cancer conference

St. Maarten (DCOMM) – Gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Igor Gomes Bravio is one of the speakers at this week’s cancer conference that is organized by Collective Prevention Services from the Public Health Ministry and a number of non-governmental organizations.
The conference is themed Cancer and aging, collectively improving our local cancer care and responsibility and takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Hotel and Casino.

The four areas to be highlighted at the conference are breast cancer, cervical, colon and prostate cancer.
Dr. Bravio, who is from San Jose, Costa Rica, completed his specialist medical training in December 2010. He did a surgical masters course in total laparoscopic hysterectomy and advanced laparoscopic procedures, in San Francisco.
Dr. Bravio will give a presentation on cervical cancer treatment, endometrial and procedures. Local specialist Dr. Randall Friday will also give presentations on these issues.

The conference will focus on sharing information on the four specific cancers with the objective of developing a strategic plan and approach in registering, managing and monitoring these diseases, and increase awareness. New treatments will also be highlighted.
The conference is open for the public on Saturday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.
