Sonesta Maho St. Maarten donates nearly $52, 000 to AIDS Foundation

St. Maarten – The Maho Group‘s Stronger Together campaign has netted $51,840 for the St. Maarten AIDS  Foundation as part of its Stronger Together Red Ribbon Campaign. The Scotiabank under the leadership of Country Manager Eli Bendaly is a founding partner and annual contributor to the initiative.

The check was presented recently after the program ended on March 25 after three months of guest donations. The foundation had initially projected they’d raise $30, 000 from the initiative where guests were asked to voluntarily donate one dollar, per room, per day. Maho then matched that with their own funds on a daily basis.

“We are sincerely grateful to our guests for their generous donations and to our front desk staff at each resort for serving as ambassadors for this program. Together, we have joined hands as a global community of awareness, contributing to the progress of HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention on our island,” President & Chief Executive Officer for the Maho Group Saro Spadaro said.

Stronger Together funds will benefit the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation in order to promote awareness within the Caribbean, to educate children and adults on prevention and to assist with care and support for persons living with HIV/AIDS.  Special programs include the Boys Program, Girl Power and rapid testing days.
