CAY BAY – SOL St. Maarten has won the top award in the company’s regional safety program. The program called Goal Zero places specific emphasis on adhering to safety standards in all aspects of the company’s operations. The objective is to have zero incidents or injuries in the markets where SOL conducts business. The program also encourages a culture of health, environmental and safety-mindedness for the employees in their daily tasks.

Chairman of the SOL Group Sir Kyffin Simpson and members of the board and regional management came to St. Maarten to award the local company for the achievement, and commended general manager David Antrobus for his ability to assist the employees at SOL in safety consciousness.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the team at SOL in St. Marten for doing a fantastic job in maintaining a safe work environment. It has been an honor to witness the presentation of the Goal Zero award to you. You have excelled in every area of this initiative and should be very proud of the performance of every single staff member involved. We look forward to seeing this performance maintained for years to come,” Simpson said.

SOL received the Goal Zero champion plaque along with a group prize for all employees. The Helping Hands Foundation received 4,000 guilders in fuel.

The SOL-employees thought that this was a good gesture to show their appreciation to the elderly whom they consider the “building blocks of the society.”

“SOL will continue to be the premier supplier of energy solutions across the region. We have had the opportunity to serve our loyal customers both in St. Maarten and across the region competently over the last six years and we intend to keep our standard at its highest. As we look to the future our continuous mandate is to explore new opportunities and maintain high levels of service delivery to ensure that we always deliver the very best to our customers in a safe, responsible and efficient manner,” SOL Group’s Chief Executive Officer Gerard Cox said.
