St. Maarten -The staff of SOL Antilles was praised for its exceptional commitment to the company by General Manager Northern Caribbean David Antrobus during the consecration ceremonies of the company’s new offices by the Anglican priest Reverend Terrence Rawlins on Friday. He described 2011 for the SOL Group as another challenging year due to the continuing global recession.
The SOL Group is now heading into its most significant time of operation which ends in April. This period will determine how successful the year will be for the company. He singled out the drivers and the staff at the offices at the Cay Bay plant who play a critical role in ensuring that the product is delivered on time at their various destinations.
The employees that are stationed at the Princess Juliana International Airport expected the past weekend to be their busiest as the high season for the destination “kicks into high gear.” Antrobus indicated that this year “has brought together the team spirit which is responsible for our successes this year.”
“One of the strongest points for us was when we received the independent audit; the auditor reported back to the head offices that he experienced good team spirit while he was here,” said Antrobus. The auditor, who is an outsider, spent one week with the company.
One of SOL St. Maarten’s notable successes was winning the Gold Zero award – one of the most coveted awards in the company. “It is pleasing to know that we are out there in the front and have met or surpassed their targets that were set by the local staff. It is critical that we maintain these successes,” said Antrobus.
During the ceremonies Obadiah Skeete who joined the company some 35 years ago was honored for his exceptional service to the company. He was described as one of SOL’s most dedicated workers; he is on the job first each day and the last to leave. He is also responsible for pumping the fuel to the GEBE plant. He received several tokens of appreciation for his sterling contributions and also thanks from the corporate office and staff.
