St. Maarten – The second suspect in the Oro Diamante robbery and the shooting of Police Officer Gamali Benjamin, J.L will be spending 60 more days in prison, after the Judge of Instruction extended his pre-trial detention on Friday.
J.L and R.D are held responsible for the robbery on August 5 that led to the death of Police Sergeant Gamali Benjamin. J.L fled after the robbery and went into hiding. Police found the second suspect J.L at a home in St. Peters on Tuesday, August 11.
A smiling suspect left the court house on Friday while being escorted by police officers. He is detained at the Philipsburg police station. R.D. also known as rapper Kilo Gotti was shot by the police on August 5, is still under heavy security while recovering at the hospital ward at the PointeBlanche Prison from gunshots wounds.
The investigation is still in full swing and witnesses are still asked to come forward to the police with any information pertaining to the case.
