St. Maarten – Last week Wednesday students of Sister Regina School in Simpson Bay were given a tour of Yacht Club Isle De Sol (IDS) and Yacht Club Port De Plaisance (PDP).

Marina managers Brian Deher (IDS) and Leon Wilson (PDP) guided the students around the marinas. The children got to see the yachts up close and understand marina operations. Deher and Wilson discussed the many different types of jobs available both in the marinas and on the boats. The students received refreshments after their tour.

“I was extremely impressed to see how polite and interested all of the children were. They all had very intelligent questions and their curiosity and excitement were very apparent. From the St. Maarten Marine Trades perspective, we are always happy to help spark an interest in our industry, especially students at such a young age since they have a great opportunity to pick up hobbies now as children that can turn into successful careers as young adults,” Marina Manager and St. Maarten Marine Trade Association President Brian Deher said.”
