Simpson Bay Public service center to open April 12POSTED: 03/28/13 12:41 PM
St. Maarten – On April 12 the first public center will be officially opened in Simpson Bay. The center is located on the top floor of the Simpson Bay Fish Market and will see a soft opening after months of preparations.
“We have made some adjustments to that location especially where the entrance is concerned. There will be a reception area on the bottom level and persons will then be directed to the different offices,” Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams said.
The center is expected to bring greater access to the government services to residents and tourists in the Simpson Bay area and beyond. It will also be more convenient for people who had to travel from as far as Cupecoy to Philipsburg, brave traffic congestion and then long lines to conduct business with government.
In the initial stages the Prime Minister explained that the center will see the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour, the Ministry of General Affairs and the Ministry of Finance.
Services that are provided by these ministries including petitions will be handled at the Simpson Bay Public Service Centre (PSC).The center was one of the initiatives mentioned in the governing program.
“The intention is that we continue to look at providing services to people in the districts as much as possible,” the prime minister added.
