St. Maarten – Seven candidates received their certificate in advanced financial investigation from the head of the Detective Department, Commissioner Denise Jacobs, on 5 June. One of candidates was from the federal detectives and the other six came from the St. Maarten Police Force. It was a 3 week intensive course done by the Forensic Services.

“Financial Investigation is of great importance to the Police Force,” said Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson. “It is of great importance, because it is a very effective way to control crime in general and in particular the laundering of money.”

The CFATF requires that St. Maarten has good financial investigation capabilities. “St. Maarten is working hard to be compliant, because the fight against money laundering contributes to the integrity of the country St. Maarten and is of great importance to our economy and tourism,” Henson concluded.
