Ser joins international body

Ser Netherlands’ director of Economic Affairs Marco Bos, Ser Aruba’s vice-chairman Michel A. Henriquez, Ser Aruba’s Chairman Rudy Geerman, Ser Curacao’s Chairman Stanley Betrian, Ser Curacao’s Secretary-general Josephine Provence, Ser St. Maarten’s Chairman René A. Richardson and Ser St. Maarten’s board members Joseph H. Lake jr, Edwin Smith and Dwight Williams.

St. Maarten – The development of the Social Economic Council (Ser) crossed another threshold recently when the organization was inducted to the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (Aicesis). The international body has representatives from 70 member states from four continents.
The Ser was inducted at Aicesis’ annual general assembly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last week. The Ser’s chairman René Richardson Dwight Williams, Joseph Lake Jr. and Edwin Smith – all members – were present in Brazil for the induction. Richardson used the opportunity to relay basic information about St. Maarten and the Ser. The trip was financed using development funds provided by Usona.
Aruba and El Salvador also became Aicesis members at the same meeting. The St. Maarten location delegation also held sideline meetings with sister organizations from Aruba, Curaçao and the Netherlands to strengthen ties.
