GREAT BAY – The St. Maarten Senior Citizens and Pensioners Association (SMSPA) will celebrate the body’s first anniversary on June 15 with the first statutory, ordinary Annual General Membership Meeting. The roughly two hour gathering, which will be held at the John Larmonie Center, is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. A party to celebrate the anniversary is set for 6:00 p.m.

The agenda for Friday’s meeting includes an account of the activities and accomplishments in the first year and activities for the coming year. The latter will be an open discussion with the members. A draft plan of action has already been created and will be put to the members for approval.

One concrete accomplishment is that the membership has grown from 22 people to 166. The first great leap in membership came in January when the membership almost doubled after the first seminar for seniors and pensioners.
