Senate will approve rules for Antillean immigrants

THE HAGUE – The Dutch Senate supports an initiative law from VVD-MP André Bosman that sets rules for people from St Maarten, Curacao and Aruba who want to settle down in the Netherlands. Freedom Party MP Sietse Fritsma confirmed that the PVV will vote in favor of the law, the Antilliaans Dagblad reported yesterday.

Earlier, the legislation only had the support from coalition partners VVD and the Labor Party, but they do not have a majority in the senate. The PVV now provide the numbers to get the law approved.

The PVV is not enthusiast about the legislation because the party says that it is not far-reaching enough. “We also want to send criminal Antilleans back home,” Fritsma said. “But everything is better than nothing and therefore we are going to support this initiative.”
