POSTED: 09/5/12 10:30 AM

St. Maarten (DCOMM) – Disaster Coordinator Winston Salomon is advising residents and the business community to remain prepared as Michael became the 13th tropical storm of the season yesterday.
Tropical Storm Michael is in the Northern Atlantic Ocean and does not pose a threat to Sint Maarten.
September is a peak month for storm and hurricane activity. The peak storm period runs from August 15 through October 15.
The Office of Disaster Management annual theme “It only takes one” remains a fair warning to residents to maintain a state of preparedness until the end of the season.
The remaining names of potential storms for the 2012 season are: Nadine, Oscar, Patty, Rafael, Sandy, Tony, Valerie and William.
