WILLEMSTAD – Officers of the Detective Collaboration Team (RST) raided the home of Maximus-suspect Burney ‘Nini’ Fonseca in Kraal Specht yesterday morning. They arrested Fonseca’s 70-year-old father in connection with the Rizinia-investigation – a money laundering and drugs case. Nini Fonseca was sentenced to 4 years in this case in October of last year.
Officers from the Netherlands, St. Maarten, Aruba and Curacao confiscated several documents during an earlier house search.
Charles ‘Brons’ Desir and Churandy Cijntje are also part of the Zirinia case. They were sentenced to 12 and 30 months respectively last year. Desir received his punishment for a drugs transport in 2013 Cijntje for laundering 98,000 guilders between 2010 and 2015 and for drugs transports to the Netherlands between 2013 and 2015.
The convicts used Monica and Veronica B. (Mother and daughter) for the drugs transports. Monica reportedly had a relationship with the killer of Helmin Wiels, Elvis ‘Monster’ Kuwas, while Veronica was in a relationship with the late Raoul ‘Bolle’ Martinez, the man who rented the car that was used for the Wiels-assassination. Martinez was killed shortly after the assassination.
The Rizinia-investigation is a byproduct of the investigations Magnus (the Wiels-assassination) and Maximus (the investigation into the people who ordered the Wiels-hit). Through phone taps investigators stumbled upon the drugs and money laundering activities.
