Rotary participated in Coastal Cleanup

St. Maarten – The Rotary Club Sunrise took part in the International Coastal Cleanup by organizing a cleanup of the Simpson Bay Beach last Saturday.
Together with Rotary Mid Isle, Rotaract Sunrise, the Sr. Regina Primary School, the Leopold Bell School and Simpson Bay residents they had over 55 volunteers.
The volunteers collected 22 trash bags weighing 196.5 kilos; each piece of trash was noted on the special Ocean Conservancy data card that will be given to local coordinator Sint Maarten PRIDE foundation to be added to the 2011 trash index report.
PRIDE foundation president Jadira Veen thanked the Rotary Sunrise for its help with the Coastal Cleanup and for engaging residents and youngsters in it.
