St. Maarten – The Rotaract Club of St. Maarten Sunrise was able to gather a total of 476 Items (including 198 Bottles of Water) as well as a few large bags of clothing items donated by the Rotary Club of St. Maarten.

The club also received monetary donations in the form of US$81 and NAF 27 which were used to purchase more nonperishables at Cost-U-Less and donated to the Red Cross St. Maarten along with the other donations to assist the victims of hurricane Gonzalo. On the morning of Saturday 25 October, the Rotaract Club of St. Maarten Sunrise held its latest Hurricane Awareness Mission (H.A.M.) event at Cost-U-Less on Bush Road. This particular HAM had special focus on gathering items for those affected by the recent passing of Hurricane Gonzalo which caused significant damage and several outages to various locations on the island.

The items collected were given to the Red Cross for distribution to those in need of aid.  The Hurricane Awareness Mission (HAM) is a community project that occurs between the months of June and November each year with the goal of gathering non perishable items that can be distributed to those in need in the event of a disaster.

This year HAM was held at Le Grande Marche, Sunny Food, Fresh Market and Cost-U-Less. The final HAM event for this year is scheduled for 29 November and will be held at Daily Extra Supermarket in Cole Bay.
