Ritchie’s century highlights weekend windball

CUL DE SAC- Lionel Ritchie struck 14 sixes and 5 fours when he scored almost half of the total for the GT Boyz when they defeated De Challengers by 91 runs in the second quarter final of the 2011 Wind ball competition on Sunday.

The GT Boyz have now joined Fire Storm, the first team to qualify after they defeated the defending champions, Underdogs. The GT Boyz batting first reached 236 for 5 from the allotted 15 overs.

Ritchie was the top scorer with 113 runs, also contributing with the bat was Rasheed Pirkhan on 36. Bowling for De Challengers was Imran Khan on 2 for 41. In reply, De Challengers were only able to reach 145 for 6, when the overs ran out. Shameer Khan top scored on 87 and bowling for Gt Boyz, Pirkhan had 3 for 16 and I Yacub had 2 for 15.

In game two, the High Grade Family team batting first against MNO were 96 all out after 15 overs in which Bert Elizee top scored on 25. Oswald Hensville was the pick of the MNO with 5 for 15.

In reply, MNO were able to reach the required score to win after 13.4 overs and lost 9 wickets in the process in which Melichius Theodule was the top scorer on 24. Bowling for High Grade, Ralo Thomas had 2 for 7 and F Mathurin had 2 for 24.

In the final game of the day, it was an all ladies affair when the United Force went up against the Upsetters. Batting first, the Upsetters reached 136 for 3 after 15 overs. Shama Flurton top scored on 57 and Madgaline Oville chipped in with an impressive 38.

In reply, the United Force were only able to get 111 for 3 when the stipulated overs ran out with Pearl Barton contributing the most runs (32). Marcia Gonzales was the pick of the Upsetters bowling attack finishing with 3 for 14.
