MARIGOT – The St. Maarten Pride Foundation organized its annual coastal cleanup this year around the former La Belle Creole hotel in the French side.  Volunteers turned out in record numbers and totaled 316. Together they filled 125 trash bags with debris that was picked up from the beach and the bushes behind it and from the water. The total weight of the 125 bags was a little bit more than 1,100 kilos.

Among the many volunteers were 59 students from Learning Unlimited, 9 from the CIA school, 93 from St. Dominic High School, and 155 from several other groups like Interact, Rotary, Rotaract, Fedex, the American University of the Caribbean, the Philippino community, and Adventist group from the French side and a Soualiga group, also from the French side.
