St. Maarten – The employee of a real estate company who was arrested last week during a raid in Simpson Bay was released from pretrial custody yesterday. His attorney Cor Merx confirmed the report, but declined to provide further details.

Prosecutor Dounia Benammar also confirmed that the man had been released. “There were no reasons to detain him any longer, but the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

Officers of the Detective Collaboration Team RST searched six houses and the real estate office last week Tuesday. The search is related to an international drugs investigation. A week before this raid, police arrested three suspects in Maho. These arrests are linked to the same investigation.

Last week officers also arrested three people but one of them has now been released. The six suspects are aged between 26 and 37. Three of them are women.

In the course of the investigation officers confiscated money, cars, administration, weed, cocaine, pills that are probably ecstasy and a firearm.
