Rastafarians honor elders Sunday

St. Maarten – Some 174 elders in the community will be honored for their contributions in eight areas on Sunday at the fifth annual agricultural fair. The event is being hosted by the solidarity rastafari organization and we agree with culture association. The ceremony is part of two days of activities at the exploitation in Bellevue that begins with a reggae show on Saturday night.

Saturday’s concert will be a reggae show featuring Youth Wave and Freedom Fighters. The latter group will be joined by Seagone Marlene. On Sunday there will be a fair beginning at 7:00 a.m. The first order of business is a local breakfast of arrow root, bush tea and Johnny cakes. At 10:00 a.m. there will be art and craft, vegetables, ital food, traditional music and site visits. There will also be speeches from the agriculture departments of Anguilla, St. Maarten and St. Martin. The official part of the day will conclude with the honoring ceremony. After that there will be music for the entire day.
