St. Maarten – Vice President of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ludwig Ouenniche and his wife Alba are mourning the loss of their 27-year-old daughter Nour. She was the couple’s only child and the Gendarmerie is investigating exactly what happened.
The young woman died due to injuries she sustained in an accident in Agrement at around 1:30 a.m. According to a statement from the Gendarmerie, Nour was thrown from the vehicle after losing control, ending up on the left side of the road and crashing into a car parked next to the roundabout. She died instantly but the young man who is the car with her was not injured.
Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams was among the first to offer condolences.
“On behalf of the government and the Council of Ministers of St. Maarten I express sincerest condolences to Ludwig Ouenniche, his wife Alba and their family with the tragic passing of their daughter Nour Ouenniche this morning in a car accident. I think it’s every parent’s nightmare to be at home and knowing that your kids are out there and then being informed that they will not be coming home because something happened – in this instance a fatal accident. We wish them God’s strength and peace at this difficult time,” the prime minister said at Wednesday’s Council of Ministers press briefing.
