St. Maarten – Last Friday the first meeting of the Organizing Committee Inauguration was held at the Cabinet of Governor Eugène Holiday together with Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams to officially kick-off the work of the committee.
By National decree, approved by the Council of Ministers and signed by the Governor, the Organizing Committee Inauguration has been installed to organize and execute the activities surrounding this event. The committee consists of Chairlady Anenda Zaandam, Secretary Emilia Thomas, Liaison Council of Ministers Cassandra Janssen, Liaison Cabinet of the Governor André Hoeneveld, and Public Relations Rodney Richardson.
On April 30, Queen Beatrix will abdicate the throne followed by the swearing-in of Prince Willem-Alexander in an inauguration ceremony to be held in the Nieuwekerk in Amsterdam, where St. Maarten as country within the Kingdom will take part in these celebrations.
