Prime Minister maintains screening was properly done

St. Maarten – The Government of St. Maarten has received two copies of the Rosenmöller report, which looks partially at the screening of ministers in Curacao and the relationship between the Schotte Cabinet and the Director of the Central Bank of Curacao and St. Maarten. One copy of the report was sent by the Minister Plenipotentiary Mathias Voges and the other was sent by Minister of Kingdom Relations Piet Hein Donner.

Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams has decided not to weigh in on reactions by political leaders in Curacao, but she did react to a question about the comments on the screening as the Rosenmöller report states that the time between election day (September 17) and the installation of the government (October 10) was too short to do a proper screening.
“The question is how far this screening is supposed to go. But the way it is prescribed by law has been followed on St. Maarten and it was not a matter of time. In fact the whole thing was to get the screening of the ministers done as soon as possible. This was done and the offices that needed to be consulted at the time such as the office of the Attorney General, that process was done as well, so no I don’t see an issue as far as St. Maarten is concerned and the matter of screening of the ministers,” Wescot-Williams said.
