St. Maarten – A police officer fired a warning shot early Saturday morning during the chase of two men who are suspected of burglarizing the Tattoo Parlor on Back Street. Officers arrested a 23-year-old suspect; the second man is still on the lam.

The report about a suspected burglary at the Tattoo Parlor came in at 2.55 a.m. on Saturday. Officers heard people running though the building that is currently under construction. When the burglars realized that the police was on site, one man jumped from the third floor down and ran away together with a second man. During the chase, one officer fired a warning shot.

The 23-year-old who had jumped from the third floor surrendered while the other suspect fled. Police officers first took the man to the police station for questioning. After he complained about internal pains paramedics examined him and decided to take him to the St. Maarten Medical Center.

There, the suspect refused treatment and he was returned to the detention center. Later in the day, paramedics were called again to tend to the man, who was then again taken to the hospital.
