Police catch French car with gun and drugs

St. Maarten – The Customs Department and the police found marijuana and a gun on Friday evening in a car with a French license plate evening during a general control near the roundabout between Dutch Quarter and Belvedere.

When officers controlled the car and its two occupants their initially found several small bags containing marijuana and drugs paraphernalia, a police report states. A search of the passenger yielded a .40 caliber pistol, tucked in the waistband of the man’s trousers.

Police identified the two men as 24-year-old R.R. and 39-year old T.M.R. Both were arrested and taken to the police station in Philipsburg where they remain in custody pending further investigation.
