POSTED: 01/5/15 2:36 PM

St. Maarten – A 72-year old man, whose identity has not yet been released by the police, was found wounded in the bedroom of his home in Upper Princess Quarter on Wednesday morning at 2 a.m. Police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted in vain to save the man’s life by practicing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). A police doctor declared the man dead at 4 a.m.

The police is treating the death as a crime, because it called employees of the forensic department to the scene to collect evidence. Detectives began interviewing witnesses that were present in the house at the time the man was found.

The investigation is ongoing and for now there is no additional information available, the police stated in a press release. The police calls on citizens who have information about the case to come forward. “Even if it seems very little, please contact us on 542 22 22 and ask for the detective department” the press release states.

People who have information can also come in person to the police station to talk to one of the detectives that have been assigned to the case. Sharing information anonymously is possible by calling the tip line at #9300.
