Police arrest teenaged suspect in King murders

St. Maarten – Police have arrested a second suspect in the murders of Michael King and Thelma Strickland King. The suspect is 17-year-old J.C.M. He was arrested on the streets in Cole Bay around 3.45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Investigators considered the teenager a suspect since last week. “Further arrests cannot be excluded,” a press release from the prosecutor’s office stated.

The other suspect in the murders, 28-year-old security guard M.K.J. will be brought before the Judge of Instruction again on Wednesday. The prosecutor’s office will ask the judge on that occasion for his pre-trial detention. J. was arrested last week Sunday morning around 4 a.m. in Cole Bay. He heavily resisted his arrested and injured a police officer in the process. The suspect also sustained injuries and had to be treated in hospital.
