Police arrest suspect in stolen motorbike case

St. Maarten – On Tuesday, police arrested a 23-year-old man, with initials H.F.M., and born on Curacao, in connection with the December 2, 2013, theft of a motorbike at the Tamarind Hotel in Pointe Blanche. During the robbery security guard who tried to stop the theft was severely and violently beaten.

After the robbery and attack, the 46 year security guard of the hotel was found unconscious on the parking lot by guests of the hotel. He suffered severe trauma to his head and was taken to the hospital immediately where he stayed for several weeks to recover from his injuries. The Detective Department of the Sint Maarten police force immediately started their investigation. As a result of their efforts, the 23-year-man, who police believe was involved in the incident, was arrested.

The stolen motorbike is blue 2006 Suzuki Hayabusa that was parked in front of the Tamarind Hotel entrance.

In spite of the arrest made, however, the detectives are still continuing their investigation. The police force is still on the lookout for the stolen motorbike. The possibility that more arrests will be made in this case is not ruled out.
