St. Maarten – The Central Bank for Curacao and St. Maarten was the main topic of conversation between Prime Ministers Sarah Wescot-Williams and Stanley Betrian when the latter visited St. Maarten on Tuesday.
Wescot-Williams said yesterday that the intention is to proceed with the operational audit that was agreed upon in a meeting attended by then Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte and his finance Minister George Jamaloodin. “We expect within short the terms of reference for the audit and then we will see whether St. Maarten is able to live with that or that we want to add or change something,” the PM said.
In the August meeting St. Maarten and Curacao agreed to hold a shareholder meeting soon, but these plans did not get a follow up until now due to the fall of the Schotte-cabinet.
