Planners envision lagoon boardwalk

St. Maarten – Thursday’s town hall meeting about zoning plans for residents of Cay Bay, Cole Bay and the Billy Folly area was basically a repeat of the meeting held on Monday for Simpson Bay residents. As Today already reported on Wednesday, there are plans for a sewage treatment plant to be built on a new land reclamation in the southern point of the lagoon where the water quality is very bad.
Another option that was presented on Monday and again on Thursday is the creation of a boardwalk along the lagoon, from the side of the airport towards the John Sainsborough Lejuez bridge, commonly called the Simpson Bay bridge. The suggestion by urban planners is to create a footpath from the Airport Road towards the lagoon side and its (possible) future boardwalk
