St. Maarten -The 175 feet PJD2  am tower in Hope Estate came crashing down on Monday as a result of winds sustained from hurricane Gonzalo.

The tower crashed onto a car and management of PJD2 dismissed earlier reports that the tower had crashed onto a home. Don Hughes of PJD2 told Today that because of the damaged tower, the am radio won’t be on air for a considerable period of time, but the workers from this station will continue their broadcast on the sister station 102.7fm radio.

Hughes said that PJD2 will be seeking building permission to now have the am tower housed on Pond Island and  will also go through the proper telecommunications channel for the relevant documentation to make this relocation possible. “The tower suffered considerable damage and the guy wires snapped causing the tower to crash onto a vehicle. That was the only property damaged by the crash of the tower.

Hughes apologized to listeners for any inconvenience caused and encouraged to tune in to the sister station for their continued listening pleasures.
