St. Maarten – The clients and staff of the Mental Health Foundation are working diligently towards their upcoming art exhibition called “Pieces of Life” which is scheduled for next week Friday October 26 from 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Taloula Mango’s on the boardwalk in Philipsburg.

This project has a dual objective which is to promote Mental Health Awareness and to provide funds for the Faraja Center’s Christmas celebration in December. This project has brought out the artistic side of many of the clients and many are eager to finish their work.

For the past month, Sint Maarten’s artist Ruby Bute has been volunteering her time to assist MHF clients in their work once per week. Assignments are passed to clients and staff to complete before Ms. Bute returns for another session.

“It has been great to have Ms. Bute work with the clients. She has a very calm and gentle spirit while she works which lightens the room and allows the clients to relax. She has connected with them in a powerful way and at many times would encourage them even beyond their work for this project. We appreciate her so very much,” says one of the Faraja staff members

MHF is expected to have 30 framed paintings for the event. The themes range from nature, historical, autumn to spring. Clients were allowed to express themselves and were guided in their initiatives.

“Heads of banks and other businesses that can purchase and hang these paintings in their buildings or offices are especially welcomed,” the Faraja staff said in a press release.
In addition to the paintings, there will also be an assortment of scented candles on sale, some of them with new exotic shapes.
