St. Maarten – A family fun day will be held at Great Bay Beach on Sunday to allow people a central location where they can sign a petition calling on the government to resign. The event will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.
Social and political activist Eldridge Van Putten, who is organizing the protest, said the event will include performances from calypsonians and speeches from speakers he was reticent to name. He also made it clear that the principal reason for having the event was to allow people the chance to sign the petition.
“I believe we already have more than sufficient signatures, but what is more valuable is the validity of the petition. If the petition is valid and supported then there is no way for the government to ignore it,” van Putten said.
