Parliament meets Monday to observe first anniversary of country status

St. Maarten – An extra ordinary plenary session of parliament will take place on Monday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the General Assembly Chamber of the House of Parliament, to mark the first year of country status. This meeting has been convened at the request of Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Dr. Rhoda Arrindell and will be attended by Governor drs. Eugene Holiday. It will be aired live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20.
The Council of Ministers will also be present and Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams will address Parliament on the 10-year journey to country status. Minister Arrindell will also address parliament.
Each of the faction leaders namely, Independent Member of Parliament Frans Richardson, Democratic Party faction leader Roy Marlin, National Alliance faction leader William Marlin, and United People’s Party Faction Leader Romain Laville will also be addressing Parliament.
