Parliament commemorates country status Wednesday

St. Maarten – A plenary session of parliament will mark the second anniversary of St. Maarten’s country status next week Wednesday. The meeting is convened at the request of Minister of Education, Culture, Youths and Sports Silveria Jacobs.
The meeting begins Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.
Faction leaders will speak for 10 minutes. Members of the Council of Ministers and guest speakers will also have the floor.
The Central Committee meets Thursday afternoon at 2.00 p.m. to appoint MPs to the permanent committees of parliament and to the Parlatino committees. A change to the National Ordinance Security Service is the third agenda point.
Both meetings will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, via Pearl Radio FM 98.1, the audio via the Internet www.pearlfmradio.com, and also via www.sxmparliament.org.
