Parliament appoints new president today

St. Maarten –The appointment of a new president of parliament has been added to the agenda points for a meeting of parliament carded for today.

Caretaker Prime Minister Sarah Wescott-Williams was recently appointed as the president of the parliament, but developments in the political field since, has made it necessary for a new president to be appointed.

The first agenda point for the meeting of parliament is incoming documents, the second agenda point is an advice regarding the installation and composition of the permanent and ad Hoc committees of parliament and the third agenda point is an advice regarding the installation and composition of the committees of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).

The Plenary public session is set for Monday at 10.00am and will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, via Pearl Radio FM 98.1, the audio via the internet www.pearlfmradio.com, and also via www.sxmparliament.org.

 

Members of the public are invited to the House of Parliament to attend parliamentary deliberations.
