Dear Editor,

Please allow me the use of your esteem daily to pose the following questions to the leader of the United People’s Party:

Can the leader of the UP tell the citizens of Country St. Maarten, which political party, while in government, accumulated the funds to build the harbor project and who the commissioners were?

Can the leader of the UP tell the citizens of Country St. Maarten, which political party was in government and who the commissioners were when the construction of the harbor project began?

Can the leader of the UP tell the citizens of Country St. Maarten, what was his reaction to the decision of the leaders of the St. Maarten Patriotic Alliance to sell shares of the harbor to the Dutch Government to accumulate the necessary funds to construct the harbor project?

Can the leader of the UP tell the citizens of Country St. Maarten, why you and your fellow members of the Democratic Party accepted the money from the buy back shares of the harbor project from the Dutch Government, when you and your fellow members of the Democratic Party cried murder and said that the commissioners of the St. Maarten Patriotic Alliance sold the patrimony of St. Maarten to the Dutch?

Can the leader of the UP dispute the fact that the word “hypocrisy” is in play here?

Can the leader of the UP party tell the citizens of St. Maarten, what was your input in the island achieving its status as a country within the Dutch Kingdom?

Can the leader of the UP explain to the citizens of St. Maarten, why you resigned as commissioner in 2010, during a crucial time in the history of St. Maarten when the government needed all hands on deck to take tough and hard decisions to achieve country status?

Can the citizens of St. Maarten conclude from your resignation as commissioner that the leader of the UP is afraid to take tough and hard decisions?

Does the leader of the UP sincerely believe that you have the right to be Prime Minister of Country St. Maarten seeing your lack of interest in achieving the new status?

Doesn’t the leader of the UP believe that you owe the citizens of St. Maarten an apology for the decision that you took in 2010?

Can the leader of the UP explain to the citizens of St. Maarten why as Minister of Vromi in 2012 you signed a federal decree that gave a foreign businessman permission to divide and sell government land in the Point Blanche Hill of which the proceeds will go to this businessman?

Can the leader of the UP explain to the citizens of St. Maarten why this land was not given to locals in long lease so that they could have built their dream home?

Isn’t the leader of the UP of the opinion that with the stroke of your pen you have deprived many St. Maarteners the opportunity of being able to build their dream home?

Isn’t the leader of the UP of the opinion that here too you owe the citizens of St. Maarten an apology and if not, why not?

Did the leader of the UP condone the action taken by his minister of Vromi in the Caravanserai saga?

Does the leader of the UP share the opinion that his minister of Vromi unnecessarily involved government in a civil matter and that the minister committed a faux pas?

Does the leader of the UP share the opinion that the timing of the action of the Minister of Vromi can be interpreted as showing favoritism?

Can the leader of the UP tell the citizens of St. Maarten if his political party received campaign funds from the Atlantis Group of Companies?

My request to the UP leader is for him to answer the abovementioned questions during the last political meeting of his party.

  1. My question to Todd is why is he being so polically selective and why does he not ask questions to ALL the political parties. I doubt that they are angels and saints. I did business in St. Maarten. I know.
