Open house at EDF power plant tomorrow

MARIGOT, St. Martin – The public will have the opportunity to visit the EDF (Electricité de France) power plant tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the company’s open house.
The 5 hour open house will include a bilingual (English and French) guided tour of the facilities, where visitors will get information about the history of the plants, the production of electricity, the use of modern technologies and the protection of the environment.
The 37 years old power plant located in Galisbay was first constructed in 1975 with a total of three SEMT Pielstic PA4 diesel generators of one megawatt each. Today the location houses two power plants with 12 diesel generators with a total of 45 megawatts installed to meet the growth of the St. Martin population.
Visitors are advised to wear closed shoes and to bring along a valid identification.
The organizers are extending a special invitation to students who have an interest in an engineering or technical career.
