GREAT BAY, St. Maarten – Ombudsman Dr. Nilda Arduin continued her series of information exchange sessions with the various government ministries Monday by meeting staffers of the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication.
The Ombudsman gave a broad presentation on the bureau’s role and then listened as the ministry’s acting Secretary General Miguel De Weever and department heads shared their ideas for fostering a working relationship and cooperation with the Ministry. The main goal of the sessions is to create increased benefits to the country’s residents and good governance.
“I’d like to thank the S.G. Mr. Miguel de Weever and the department heads for the well prepared presentations and for the fruitful information and ideas,” Arduin stated in a press release.
Arduin and her Chef de Bureau/Policy Advisor Patricia Phillips also met with President of the Constitutional Court Bob Wit last week to discuss the role of the Ombudsman in lawmaking, the procedures of the Constitutional Court and the National Ordinance Constitutional Court.
