New recruits take the oathPOSTED: 09/28/15 7:13 PM
St. Maarten – Justice Minister Dennis Richardson administered the oath of office last Friday to all 18 recruits that are presently in training for the police force. The ceremony took place at the Philipsburg police station in the presence of the Chief Commissioner Peter De Witte, acting Chief Commissioner Carl John, and the instructors at the Justice Academy, Inspectors Norwin Villareal and Kethura Brown.
The recruits will undergo a six week practical training to get a hands-on view of actual police work. To be able to do this practical training the recruits have to be sworn in. The recruits will be guided and given instructions by certified mentors in the office and on the streets.
Minister Richardson congratulated the recruits and encouraged them to continue to do well during the training.
