Gospel Recording Artiste Desmond Forde and Producer Adrian Scott pose for a handout photo to promote the launch of ‘Lift Him Up’.

St. Maarten – Zamar Musical Productions will launch a fourteen track album – ‘Lift Him Up’ at 7:45 p.m. at Belair Community Centre on February 3. The compilation album includes different genres of gospel music and the people behind the project believe that the labor of love will be sold out once it launches. The launch event has already received sponsorship from Projects Consultancy and Management International N.V, but the organizers are still sourcing funding for the night of celebration.”

The title track was written by Desmond Forde. Other artistes collaborating on the production include Shakiya Arrendell, Annick Moses, Shawn Jacquet, Richard Patrick, Sharika Patrick-Higgins, Kisha Richards and Gisella Hilliman.

The idea for the album came out of a conversation between Forde and the album’s producer Adrian Scott after he expanded his business in 2010. Until then he’d been producing commercial jingles and songs, but the expansion was aimed at creating an internationally recognized and commercially viable record label.

“I started the studio in 2004 but my vision has always been to have a mega studio that serves the region. I never intended to just let people come and use the studio so I decided to take it to another level and get into the management of artiste. I toyed with the idea for a while and then Desmond walked in one day and said, ‘hey why don’t you sign me to your label?’ That was enough confirmation for me and we have been going at it since. I can only do one artist at a time because it is just me for now, so I am taking it one step at a time,” Scott said.

Forde, who began singing at the age of 10, sees music as a vehicle to positively change lives. He also revealed that the album’s central theme of “lifting God up” did not emerge until all the songs were put together.
“The music that we are producing is clean, positive; spirited and anointed…we know that people will be inspired and healed of all kinds of burdens. This song is for people of every nation because the Bible says that as we lift God up then he will draw all men to himself and they will get to know him,” Forde said.

Forde and Scott intend to promote the album island-wide in the coming weeks before heading to Anguilla and Curacao in March. They have also been invited to travel to Guyana in 2013 to perform there.

‘Lift Him Up’ costs $15.00 and can be purchased at the launching, on, or at Zamar’s studio upstairs of Island Finance on Walter J. Nisbeth Road.
