St. Maarten – The New Era Foundation and Best Marketing Bureau present their first annual pre St. Maarten Day street fair this Saturday on the Longwall Road between Vlaun and the Prince Bernhard Bridge. The day begins with a relay race at 6 a.m., whereby the runners will use the St. Maarten flag as their baton, but the event for the public opens at 9 a.m.
Street vendors will offer food and drinks; organizer Jeffrey Richardson said that there will be basketball games for secondary school-teams, a domino knock out tournament and a Know your St. Maarten quiz.
Until three o’clock there will be a host of performances by local artists, and Christopher Emmanuel is at hand with traditional games for children. Kids can also have their faces painted.
Raffle tickets are on sale for three grand prizes: a Nissan Tiida 2011, a plasma TV and a blackberry. The draw will be done on St. Maarten Day.
The New Era Foundation focuses on the development of young people in St. Maarten. Part of the raffle-proceeds will be used to support several primary schools.
Vendors interested in participating can obtain an application form for $20. For information call 522 15 74 or 553 55 12, or email to newerasxm@gmail.com.
