New arrest in Wiels-investigationPOSTED: 03/12/15 12:39 PM
WILLEMSTAD – On the Road to Fuik police arrested the 28-year-old woman A.W. last Friday morning around 8 a.m. “We are investigation her involvement in the Maximus-case,” Norman Serphos, spokesman for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, told Caribisch Netwerk reporter Anneke Polak.
While the prosecutor’s office could not confirm the woman’s identity, Polak reports that she is Aiyesha Wilsoe. The Maximus-investigation focuses on the intellectual principals behind the assassination of Pueblo Soberano leader Helmin Wiels on May 5, 2013.
The gunman, Elvis Kuwas, received last month on appeal a life sentence in the Magnus-trial. The Maximus-case has so far yielded two other suspects – lottery boss Robbie dos Santos and former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin.
The Magnus and Maximus-cases are closely intertwined. Burney ‘Nini’ Fonseca was earlier called as a suspect in the Magnus-investigation but the court released him due to insufficient evidence. However, he remains a suspect. The suspicion is that he has acted as the go-between for the intellectual principals towards the actual killers. Fonseca allegedly did this together with Luigi Florentina who committed suicide in his police cell in Barber in September 2013.
It is possible that Aiyesha Wilsoe has played a similar role as Fonseca and Florentina did. The Public Prosecutor’s Office recently posted an award to discover the whereabouts of the money the principals paid for the assassination. Serphos cannot say whether posting the reward has resulted in Wilsoe’s arrest.
