Nagico becomes titular sponsor for Calypso eliminations and finals

St. Maarten – Nagico Insurances made a donation to the St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) on Wednesday to cover the total sponsorship of the annual Calypso competition. The contribution covers the total sponsorship of the Senior Calypso Finals and Calypso eliminations.

“Nagico understands its role as a social partner of the community and has taken the initiative to assist the SCDF by ensuring that local artists have a platform to display their talents,” the company states in a release.

“We are extremely happy that NAGICO has again stepped up to the plate again this year and thrown their support behind the SCDF. We know that times are hard and when you have a company willing to support a cause to keep culture alive, we really do have to let them know how much we appreciate it,” SCDF treasurer Erno Labega said.

As a sign of gratitude, the SCDF has announced that both shows will be named after Nagico. The company’s sponsorship provides the first, second and third place prizes for the Calypso finalists. The official presentation of the cheque was made by NAGICO’s two Marketing Assistants; Lisa Brown-McKay and Annemiek Meussen in their newly renovated Customer Service area.
