MP Marlin wants to talk about dress codePOSTED: 09/24/15 1:09 PM
St. Maarten – There are zero journalist here. They are boycotting this meeting of parliament,” National Alliance faction leader William Marlin said yesterday afternoon during the debate about the deal the harbor made with developer Zebec. “We need to seriously address this if journalists are not coming here because of a dress code. We need to put this on the agenda for the next meeting of faction leaders.”
The dress code the parliament put in place obliges male journalists to show up in the press room with jacket and tie.
Independent MP Leona Marlin-Romeo apparently does not agree with Marlin’s concerns. “I am proud to have been part of that discussion,” she said. We should have this dress code, we need to talk about standards. Most countries have a dress code.”
