St. Maarten -Thirty nine year old mother of two, Shannalis Hazel beat out thousands of entries to become the winner of Scotia Bank’s ‘Back to School Campaign’ for visa debit card users. On Wednesday, the bank handed over a cheque amounting to $1, 000.00 to the customer who has been utilizing its services for a year now.
Personal Banking Manager Selma Baker said that the campaign was open to personal deposit account customers only who made purchases with their visa debit card.
“Once they used that card locally or internationally for online or in store shopping they were eligible for a prize.”
The competition was launched last September and Baker said that the financial institution observed an increase in the number of applications for the visa debit cards. Scotia Bank also has a policy of issuing debit cards to all new deposit account holders. Hazel revealed that she uses her card regularly and was excited to get some returns on her money.
“I don’t like to walk with cash, so I use the card a lot,” the obviously bewildered woman said. She plans to use her earnings to get a head start on school shopping this year.
“Even though it is expensive now to buy school supplies you have to equip your kids to get a good education, so this money will come in very handy.”
Anyone stepping into the Scotia Bank on Back Street will not fail to notice the festive atmosphere and the huge gift bags hanging from the beams on the second floor. Baker explained that it’s all part of an existing personal loan campaign.
“The branch is beautifully decorated and customers can either win a purchase of their new number plate, payment on their gas or even a utility bill. The grand prize of a one night stay at a luxurious resort will be drawn on the day before Valentine’s day.”
Persons who qualify for a personal loan will be automatically entered into the competition.
Scotia Bank says that more surprise promotions will be launched later this year with many opportunities for clients to take advantage of.
