St. Maarten – The Board for financial supervision (Cft) advisedthe Kingdom Council of Ministers on Monday to give Sint Maarten an instruction in case there is no adopted 2014 budget by January 16, 2014.

In its advice about the 2013 budget the Cft already announced that it would advise the Kingdom Council of Ministers to give an instruction, if there would not be an approved budget by December 15.

Meanwhile, the government of Sint Maarten has submitted a written petition to postpone the deadline until January 16 of next year. The Cft gives the government the chance to adopt the 2014 budget in the coming four weeks. However, the Cft also advised the Kingdom Council of Ministers to give an instruction, if the parliament has not approved the budget by January 16 of next year.
