Miss St. Maarten focusing on humanitarian platform

GREAT BAY – Miss St. Maarten Carnival 2011 Trumane Trotman has with Safe Haven and the Programme Management team for HIV/AIDS and participated in to research her platform – sexual abuse of children – for the Miss Humanity International Pageant. Trotman also attended the four day workshop to come to a new Strategic HIV/AIDS Plan as part of her preparation for the event which will be held in Barbados in October.

Trotman also plans to meet the Court of Guardianship, Minister of Justice Roland Duncan, Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor Cornelius de Weever, the Police Department and social workers of the various schools. The aim of each meeting is to acquire information on how St. Maarten is tackling the cause in terms of prevention and protection. The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has pledged that private information Trotman collects will be kept confidential and no one’s name will be tarnished.

“Besides wishing her well, as a community we should embrace our ambassador who proudly continues to represent her country. Her reign should inspire other young women to step up and be a positive influence to others,” Johnson added.
