St. Maarten – The Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Vromi) had during the third quarter of last year still had at least thirteen civil servants on the payroll above its formation. From the progress report about the third quarter of last year it appears however that at least nine of these employees were sitting at home.

Seven of the employees were, or in the meantime have been, called up for a medical test by social insurance bureau SZV, “to establish their level of disability.”

The progress report states furthermore that “the other two employees will be called up to come to work. If they do not show up for the medical test or for work, disciplinary punishments can be imposed.”

Of four other employees the ministry found that they are not above the formation. Two of them have returned to active duty.

“The other two will be handled by the department of personnel and organization to be taken off the Vromi payroll.”
