St. Maarten – The government asked a one month extension to finalize and submit the 2013 draft budget to the board for financial supervision Cft and the Council of Advice yesterday according to Finance Minister Roland Tuitt. The September 1 deadline passed last Saturday.
A ceiling of 434 million guilders is what Finance Minister Roland Tuitt wants to present as a balanced budget but a deficit of approximately 100 million guilders by various ministries may make this difficult and delay the process.
Tuitt said that it would take perhaps two more weeks for him to complete this process.
An extension request of two months was also made for the financial statements of 2011 that were also due on September 1.
“We had a meeting with the overall controller of government, an external company and the Soab and we agreed that within two months all the necessary works will be done so that all of the financial statements can be done and submitted to the Cft.”
