St. Maarten – Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Silveria Jacobs has pledged that the buildings being constructed at Genevieve de Weever School will be finished by the start of the 2012/2013 school year. She’s not ready to promise though that the new facilities will be furnished in time.
“The last part can and will be completed in time for school to reopen. However we’re still looking at some other issues that weren’t dealt with at the time in terms of furnishing the classrooms. No one can seem to tell me at this time, where the financing for that was budgeted for,” the minister said at Wednesday’s Council of Ministers press briefing.
The minister has said she will call upon several agencies, other than Usona which is financing the school upgrade to assist, with paying for the necessary furniture.
